DAVE GROHL Sings Acoustic 'My Hero' During 'iHeart Living Room Concert For America'
March 30, 2020On Sunday (March 29),Dave Grohl was among many musicians who participated in "Fox Presents The iHeart Living Room Concert For America" to honor the medical professionals and first responders who are fighting COVID-19 on the front lines. The FOO FIGHTERS frontman performed the song "My Hero" from Hawaii.
Before launching into the tune — which features the lyrics: "There goes my hero/Watch him as he goes. There goes my hero/He's ordinary" — Grohl dedicated his performance "to everyone on the front lines doing their best to get us through all of this."
The Elton John-hosted "iHeart Living Room Concert For America" featured additional performances from Billie Eilish, GREEN DAY's Billie Joe Armstrong, Alicia Keys, BACKSTREET BOYS, Sam Smith, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes.
The idea for "iHeart Living Room Concert For America" came about after the iHeart Radio Awards were postponed this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, with a Fox TV slot and performers already booked, it was decided that a concert would go ahead, with viewers encouraged to donate to charities helping those in need during this time.
Billboard reported that the performances would be filmed on the artists' personal cell phones, cameras and audio equipment in order to ensure the health and safety of the participants in this period of social isolation.
You can watch the entire hour-long, commercial-free musical event at Fox.com.
Eilish and GREEN DAY have both recently had to postpone tour dates due to the spread of the coronavirus, with Armstrong sharing a cover of "I Think We're Alone Now" online last week.
